Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a briefing on the 10th in response to a question about President Yoon's remarks on Korea-China relations during his speech in Singapore the previous day, "China and South Korea are important neighboring countries and have played a positive role in regional peace and prosperity since establishing diplomatic ties," adding, "China's policy toward South Korea maintains stability and continuity."

Spokesperson Mao Ning explained, "China's policy toward South Korea maintains stability and continuity, and we have always regarded South Korea as an important partner," further stating, "We hope South Korea adopts a proactive, objective, and friendly policy toward China, faces China directly, implements the agreements made by the leaders of both countries, and develops bilateral relations in a better direction."

The previous day, President Yoon, during his 'Singapore Lecture' hosted by the Singapore-based Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, said, "We are building a relationship based on mutual respect and the pursuit of common interests grounded in the principles of international norms not only in Korea-US relations but also in relations with China," and mentioned, "Although China fought against the Republic of Korea Army and UN forces during the Korean War, it is an important country from a future-oriented perspective."

Meanwhile, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding the joint declaration released by South Korea and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) on issues including 'freedom of navigation in the South China Sea,' stating that "South Korea should respect the efforts of itself and Southeast Asian countries to maintain stability."

Spokesperson Mao Ning said, "Thanks to the joint efforts of China and ASEAN countries, the current situation in the South China Sea is generally stable," and added, "China will work together with ASEAN countries to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea and to promote regional prosperity and development."
