Namyangju City held the "19th Pregnant Women’s Day Commemoration Event" on the 9th at the Dasan Hall of Namyangju City Hall, targeting pregnant women and their families in celebration of Pregnant Women’s Day. Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 10th that it successfully held the ‘19th Pregnant Women’s Day Commemoration Event’ on the 9th at the Dasan Hall of Namyangju City Hall, targeting pregnant women and their families.
Pregnant Women’s Day was established as October 10 every year under the ‘Maternal and Child Health Act.’
At the event, under the theme of ‘280 Exciting Days of Waiting with Mom and Dad Together,’ the following programs were held: △ Classical prenatal music concert △ Recreation activities for pregnant women and their husbands △ Lecture on pregnant women’s health management by Professor Ryu Ki-young of Hanyang University Guri Hospital.
A pregnant woman who participated in the event said, “Professor Ryu Ki-young’s lecture was the most impressive,” and added, “The Q&A session was conducted sincerely, which resolved many of my questions. I hope such a great event will be held again.”
Jung Tae-sik, Director of Namyangju Public Health Center, said, “I hope a positive social atmosphere where pregnant women are more considerate and respected will be created,” and “We will strive to expand support for pregnancy and childbirth to overcome the low birthrate era.”
Meanwhile, Namyangju City is promoting various childbirth support policies in line with the slogan of the 8th elected administration’s pledge, ‘A Happy and Warm Welfare City,’ including △ increased childbirth incentives △ postpartum care cost support project △ breast pump rental service △ free health checkups for newlyweds.
