Park Hyung-deok, Mayor of Dongducheon, Presents Cheongryeojang to 100-Year-Old Senior Citizen

On the 10th, Park Hyung-deok, mayor of Dongducheon City, visited the home of elder Hong Jeong-sun, who turned 100 this year, to present a longevity cane, the Cheongryeojang, and a congratulatory letter from the president on the occasion of the 28th Senior Citizens' Day.

On the 10th, Park Hyung-deok, mayor of Dongducheon City, visited the home of elder Hong Jeong-sun, who turned 100 this year, to celebrate the 28th Senior Citizens' Day, presenting a longevity cane called Cheongryeojang and a congratulatory letter from the President.

The Cheongryeojang is a cane personally bestowed by the king to long-lived elders since the Unified Silla period, symbolizing longevity and health. It is presented annually on Senior Citizens' Day to elders who have reached 100 years of age.

Mayor Park Hyung-deok said, “I wish for the health and happiness of elder Hong Jeong-sun, and I will continue to make greater efforts to respect and serve our elders.”
