Former Secretary-General Yuin Tae Mentions Munda Hye Case
"Those Who Say 'Apologize' Are Lacking"
"Apologizing Is Always Good... Who Would Object?"
Former National Assembly Secretary General Yoo In-tae expressed his opinion regarding the drunk driving incident involving Moon Da-hye, the daughter of former President Moon Jae-in.
On the 10th, Yoo appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and mentioned Moon's drunk driving accident. He said, "Even politicians cannot help their children," adding, "Former President Moon must have been quite distressed because of his daughter. When he ran for president, I heard that his daughter supported progressive parties." This is interpreted as Moon Da-hye supporting the Justice Party when her father ran for president.
Yoo continued, "Those who say 'apologize' for what a daughter, who is no longer part of the family, has done are lacking, but the more often you apologize, the better," and said, "If former President Moon said, 'Oh dear, I have no face to show the people because of my child's problem,' who would say anything against that?" He also added, "You don't lose points by apologizing more often," but noted, "It's also a ridiculous demand to say that he must do so."
Earlier, Cho Kuk, leader of the Innovation Party, also appeared on 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and argued, "Isn't Moon Da-hye an independent adult? It is right for her to take responsibility for her wrongdoing and clarify her position herself. She should apologize before former President Moon does." Regarding the idea that former President Moon should take moral responsibility and make a statement, he responded, "I think that is a bit excessive."
Meanwhile, on the early morning of the 5th, around 3 a.m., Moon Da-hye drove a Casper vehicle in a drunken state in front of the Hamilton Hotel in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. She collided with a taxi following her while attempting a lane change without using the turn signal. According to the police's breathalyzer test, her blood alcohol concentration was 0.14%, which exceeds the license cancellation threshold (0.08% or higher), and there were no passengers in the vehicle. CCTV footage taken just before the accident also captured her violating other traffic laws, such as making a left turn from a right-turn lane at a red light. The police have currently booked Moon for violating the Road Traffic Act and plan to investigate further, including reviewing the taxi's black box footage, to determine if there were any other traffic violations involved.
