The city of Gwangju announced on the 10th that it will hold the 31st Gwangju Kimchi Festival this year for three days from the 18th to the 20th at the City Hall Plaza.
Under the theme "Uri Choi Gwang Kimchi Party," the Gwangju Kimchi Festival offers a variety of programs including ▲Cheon-in's Table ▲Gwangju Kimchi Star Chef Food Show ▲Kimchi Experience ▲Kimjang Arcade ▲Global Kimchi Lounge ▲Gwangju Kimchi Pop-up Store.
The "Korea Kimchi Contest," which awards the Presidential Prize, will hold its final competition on the 11th at Nam-gu Gwangju Kimchi Town as in previous years. The works that receive the Presidential Prize and the Ministerial Awards from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be exhibited in the City Hall lobby during the Kimchi Festival, offering visitors a chance to taste them.
At the "Kimchi Sales Market," napa cabbage kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi, young radish kimchi, green onion kimchi, and more will be sold at prices 20-30% lower than market prices. To provide visitors with abundant sights and activities, the "Gwangju Urban Farmer Festival, Seeds Are the Universe" will be held on the 18th and 19th, and on the last day, the 20th, a "Hello Concert Good Day" stage featuring trot singers such as Jang Min-ho, Kim Hee-jae, Park Sung-on, and Kang Hye-yeon will be prepared.
Joo Jae-hee, Director of the Gwangju Economic Startup Bureau, said, "This year's Kimchi Festival has strengthened its programs to attract many foreigners visiting the Gwangju Biennale and visitors from other regions," adding, "Delicious kimchi dishes and various experiences are prepared, so we hope for active participation."
