Changwon Special City Holds Appointment Ceremony and First Meeting for 19 Members of Social Welfare Advisory Committee

Advisory on Key Policies in the Welfare Sector

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam formed the '1st Changwon City Social Welfare Advisory Committee' and held an appointment ceremony and its first meeting at the City Hall's 3rd conference room on the 10th.

The Social Welfare Advisory Committee was established for the first time following the revision of the 'Changwon Citizen Welfare Ordinance.' It is responsible for advising on matters such as the allocation and efficient distribution of welfare budgets, the improvement and development of welfare systems, and other major welfare policies deemed necessary by the mayor.

Nineteen experts with extensive knowledge and experience in welfare from academia, the public sector, and the private sector were appointed as committee members, with a term of two years.

During the meeting that followed the appointment ceremony, various opinions were exchanged on Changwon City's welfare policies, including the operational direction of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee, plans to restructure the private subsidy management system to enhance transparency and efficiency in welfare finances, and strategies for efficient management of welfare expenditures in response to increasing welfare demands.

At the appointment ceremony, Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nam-pyo stated, "It is time to establish a support system that meets the needs of various social issues and rapidly increasing welfare demands. We will maximize the use of community resources and capabilities to further improve accessibility to welfare services, so that all citizens can enjoy a happy daily life without worries." He added, "In order to achieve both targeted and universal welfare, I ask for the active roles and support of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee members as we bring together all our welfare capabilities."
