Hyundai Motor Also Rises Two Places to 30th
Samsung Electronics' brand value surpassed $100 billion for the first time, maintaining its position as the world's 5th largest brand for five consecutive years. Hyundai Motor Company climbed two spots to rank 30th.
According to the 'Top 100 Global Brands' released on the 10th by global brand consulting firm Interbrand, Samsung Electronics' brand value grew 10% year-on-year to $100.8 billion, securing the 5th place globally. Samsung Electronics is the only Asian company to rank within the top 5.
Interbrand evaluates brand value annually by comprehensively analyzing a company's financial performance, the influence of the brand on customers' purchasing decisions, and brand competitiveness. Interbrand stated that Samsung Electronics' early entry into the mobile artificial intelligence (AI) market, expansion of AI technology-applied products, enhanced connected experiences, leadership in the AI market based on semiconductor competitiveness, consistent brand strategy, and eco-friendly policies for sustainable management positively influenced this evaluation.
Samsung Electronics' brand value has grown 62% over four years since it first ranked 5th in 2020. The company explained that its brand value significantly increased thanks to growth across AI-related industries, early dominance in the mobile AI market, expansion of AI technology-applied products, and AI competitiveness in the semiconductor sector.
This year, under the vision of 'AI for Everyone,' Samsung Electronics is expanding AI technology-applied products to enhance customer experience. It is also broadening integrated connected experiences by extending interoperability to partner devices. Practical benefits such as energy savings and family care are also being provided. Additionally, Samsung Electronics is actively responding to AI demand through a diverse product lineup including DDR5, GDDR7, HBM3E, LPDDR5X, and 9th generation V-NAND.
Lee Young-hee, President of Samsung Electronics' Global Marketing Office, said, "Samsung Electronics has made various efforts from product development to services so that customers can enjoy better benefits through AI technology. Going forward, Samsung's innovation will continue to provide differentiated value in customers' daily lives and grow into a more beloved brand."
Hyundai Motor Company recorded a brand value of $23 billion, ranking 30th in the overall brand rankings. The ranking rose two spots from 32nd last year. The brand value increased by about 13% compared to last year ($20.4 billion).
Hyundai first entered the global top 100 brands in 2005 at 84th place ($3.5 billion), and since then, it has climbed 54 spots and increased its brand value by $19.5 billion. Hyundai's brand value has risen for 14 consecutive years from 2011 to this year. In particular, over the past five years, the brand value grew approximately 63% from $14.1 billion.
Hyundai stated that under the brand vision of 'Progress toward Humanity,' it is leading the way in providing innovative mobility experiences to customers and creating a sustainable future. It explained that it continues brand innovation based on humanism, showcasing heritage projects that carry on the spirit and design of Pony, Korea's first independent model, during the paradigm shift in the automotive industry.
An Interbrand representative evaluated, "Hyundai has strengthened its global brand power by offering diverse lifestyles to customers through its dedicated electric vehicle brand 'IONIQ' and high-performance brand 'N.' We expect Hyundai to expand touchpoints with global consumers through innovative mobility and continue sharing differentiated culture with its fan base."
Jang Jae-hoon, President of Hyundai Motor Company, said, "Hyundai will solidify its position as a game changer by expanding beyond complete vehicle manufacturing to next-generation mobility such as Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). I am confident that all our technological advancements will contribute to providing a richer and more sustainable future for humanity."
