European and American Tourists Arrive in Yeosu via International Cruise

Over 400 Visitors Tour Key Attractions Including Yi Sun-sin Square

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that the international cruise ship Le Soleal arrived at Yeosu Port on the 9th.

According to the city, Le Soleal is a vessel of Ponant, a world-renowned French cruise company, and on that day, a total of about 400 people, including 250 passengers from Europe and the Americas and 136 crew members, visited Yeosu.

The city provided active administrative services to ensure that passengers with short stays could fully experience Yeosu, including a welcome performance by the municipal Gugak orchestra "Chwitae," free shuttle bus support to major tourist attractions, support from cultural tourism guides and interpreters, and the installation and operation of specialty product sales booths.

In particular, to commemorate Hangul Day, the city gifted passengers with their names written in Hangul on traditional fans, which received great enthusiasm from foreign passengers.

Tourists visited major attractions such as the Yeosu Expo Site, Marine Park, and Yi Sun-sin Plaza, and enjoyed various charms of Yeosu by tasting the famous local delicacy "Gat Kimchi Gimbap."

Meanwhile, Le Soleal started its journey on the 3rd from Fukuoka, Japan, stopped at Osaka and Tsushima in Japan, then Yeosu, and headed back to the port of call on the 10th.

The city explained, "The arrival of Ponant's cruise ship is the third visit following the first visit in May 2023 and again last April," adding, "Such consecutive calls are a positive sign that Yeosu is receiving good responses as a tourist city among passengers."

It continued, "A single cruise ship can attract thousands of overseas tourists, making it an excellent opportunity to showcase Yeosu abroad," and said, "We will do our best to revitalize cruise port tourism."

The last international cruise to visit Yeosu Port this year is the Asuka Ⅱ of the Japanese cruise company Yusen Cruise, scheduled to arrive on the 1st of next month.
