Gangwon-do Announces 2024 'Centennial and Promising Small and Medium Enterprises'

Four Century-Old Companies and 22 Promising SMEs Selected
Benefits Include Preferential Limits on SME Development Funds and Tax Audit Deferrals

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced on the 10th that through the 2024 ‘Baeknyeon·Promising Small and Medium Enterprise Selection Support Project,’ it has selected 4 Baeknyeon companies and 22 promising small and medium enterprises (12 new, 10 re-certified).

The ‘Baeknyeon·Promising Small and Medium Enterprise Selection Support Project’ is a program that has been promoted since 2003 to discover excellent long-established companies and promising enterprises with high growth potential within Gangwon Province, helping them to continuously grow as representative companies of Gangwon.


Baeknyeon companies are selected from those with more than 20 years of business experience and at least 10 regular employees, while promising small and medium enterprises are selected from companies with more than 2 years of business experience and at least 5 regular employees.

Gangwon Province conducted document screening and on-site evaluations for companies that applied by September, and selected the final target companies through deliberation by the Gangwon Province Small and Medium Enterprise Support Agency Council.

The selected Baeknyeon companies and promising small and medium enterprises receive plaques and certificates, enjoy preferential treatment within the limit of Gangwon Province’s small and medium enterprise development funds, and are provided with various benefits such as deferral of local tax audits and preferential participation in projects of related organizations like the Economic Promotion Agency.


Won Hong-sik, Director of the Gangwon Province Economic Bureau, said, “This project has been continuously promoted since 2003, and we will continue to provide customized support so that small and medium enterprises, which are the core of the regional economy, can continuously grow.”
