Hamyang County Congratulates Birth of New Life After 2 Years and 8 Months

Even More Meaningful as a Multichild Couple Welcomes a Baby Amid Declining Rural Population

A precious new life has been born in Baekjeon-myeon, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, for the first time in 2 years and 8 months since January 2022, bringing a festive atmosphere to the entire Baekjeon-myeon area.

The center of the celebration is the couple Mr. Hwang Wonha and his wife, who reside in Hadaepyeong Village and serves as the president of the Baekjeon-myeon Culture and Sports Association. On September 16, they welcomed their fourth child, Hwang Hyejin, a healthy baby girl.

To commemorate the baby's return home from the postpartum care center, staff from the Baekjeon-myeon Office, members of the Baekjeon-myeon Village Leaders Council, and the Hamyang Agricultural Cooperative Baekjeon Branch personally delivered baby supplies and congratulatory gift packages on the 8th. The couple expressed their gratitude to everyone who came to visit.

Mr. Hwang, the father, said, "I am grateful that so many people congratulated us on the birth of our precious child," adding, "I will do my best to focus on raising the child so that she can grow up healthy."

Moon Byungyun, chairman of the Baekjeon-myeon Village Leaders Council, said, "Although the number of people returning to farming and rural life in our region has been steadily increasing, we have always been worried since there have been no news of newborns. I congratulate the couple on behalf of the council and all village residents for this precious new life," offering words of encouragement.

Cho Younghwa, head of Baekjeon-myeon, remarked, "In a situation where the population continues to decline, the birth of a new life is truly joyful and meaningful. All Baekjeon-myeon residents are wishing for the child to grow up healthy and happy," sharing his well-wishes.

Meanwhile, Hamyang-gun is implementing various support measures for pregnancy and childbirth to create a favorable environment for having and raising children, such as newlywed marriage funds (5 million KRW), health checkup subsidies for engaged and newlywed couples (300,000 KRW), the First Meeting Voucher (2 million KRW), postpartum health care expenses (500,000 KRW), and congratulatory gifts for pregnancy and childbirth.
