Elderly Patient Recovering After Hip Surgery
The image of a woman pushing over a nonagenarian who was collecting scrap paper, causing the elderly man to undergo hip surgery, has sparked controversy.
On the 9th, JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' aired a story about Mr. A, a man in his 90s, who suffered a hip fracture after getting into an argument with another elderly woman, Mrs. B, while collecting scrap paper. According to the informant, the grandson, Mr. A underwent hip surgery under lower body anesthesia on the 8th and is currently recovering.
Earlier, on the 4th, Mr. A accidentally touched Mrs. B's scrap paper while collecting scrap paper in an alley in Seoul. This led to a scuffle between the two, and Mrs. B pushed Mr. A down. Mr. A, who was in severe pain, asked Mrs. B for help. However, Mrs. B attempted to help him up but gave up and left the scene after gathering only her scrap paper. Eventually, Mr. A contacted his family with the help of a passerby.
Mr. A's grandson said, "The hospital staff told us that if he did not have surgery, he might not survive more than three months," adding, "There was a lot of worry among the family because they said he could die during surgery under general anesthesia."
Mr. A's side visited Mrs. B, but she refused to apologize, calling it a 'malingering.' As a result, Mr. A's grandson has filed a criminal complaint against Mrs. B for injury.
Netizens who came across the story expressed various reactions such as, "It's sad that they fought over scrap paper," "A heartbreaking reality," "The world is becoming increasingly harsh," and "Wishing the elderly lady who fell a speedy recovery."
