117 out of 122 Cases Withdrawn, Dismissed, or Rejected

Most of the election invalidation lawsuits and election result invalidation lawsuits filed during the 21st general election were confirmed to have been dismissed, withdrawn, or rejected.

According to the office of Han Byung-do, a member of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee from the Democratic Party of Korea, out of 122 election result invalidation and election invalidation lawsuits filed during the 21st general election, 117 cases were concluded through withdrawal, dismissal, or rejection.

The number of invalidation lawsuits surged from 10 cases in the 20th general election to 122 cases in the 21st general election. At that time, allegations of election fraud were spread on social networking services (SNS), and former Future United Party leader Hwang Kyo-ahn and others were involved.

In the 22nd general election, 33 invalidation lawsuits were filed by political parties and candidates, of which 2 were withdrawn, 1 was dismissed, and 30 cases are still ongoing.

Representative Han stated, “Although election invalidation lawsuits were excessively filed amid allegations of election fraud in some parts of society, they were baseless rumors,” and emphasized, “To advance to a higher level democratic society, a culture of fair competition and acceptance of election results must be established.”
