The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Eunhee) announced on the 10th that the average competition rate for the '2025 Public Kindergarten, Elementary, and Special (Kindergarten/Elementary) Teacher Recruitment Examination' was 3.9 to 1.
By category, the competition rate for kindergarten teachers was 15.9 to 1, with 191 applicants for 12 positions, a decrease from the previous year's 35.5 to 1. The number of positions increased by 8 compared to last year (from 4 to 12, up 200%), and the number of applicants increased by 49 (from 142 to 191, up 34.5%).
The competition rate for elementary school teachers was 1.6 to 1, with 119 applicants for 73 positions, a slight decrease from the previous year's 2.4 to 1. The number of positions increased by 43 compared to last year (from 30 to 73, up 143.3%), and the number of applicants increased by 47 (from 72 to 119, up 65.3%).
The competition rate for special school kindergarten teachers was 7.5 to 1, with 15 applicants for 2 positions, an increase from last year's 4.1 to 1. The number of positions decreased by 9 compared to last year (from 11 to 2, down 81.8%), and the number of applicants decreased by 30 (from 45 to 15, down 66.7%).
The competition rate for special school elementary teachers was 5.0 to 1, with 45 applicants for 9 positions, a slight increase from last year's 4.0 to 1. The number of positions decreased by 5 compared to last year (from 14 to 9, down 35.7%), and the number of applicants decreased by 11 (from 56 to 45, down 19.6%).
Meanwhile, the first round of the 2025 kindergarten, elementary, and special (kindergarten/elementary) teacher recruitment exam will be held on November 9, and successful candidates will be announced on December 11 through the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education website.
The second round, for those who pass the first round, will be held over three days from January 8 to 10, 2025, and the final successful candidates will be announced on February 5, 2025.
The North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Im Jongsik) also announced that, as a result of the application process for the '2025 Public Kindergarten, Elementary, and Special School (Kindergarten/Elementary) Teacher Recruitment Examination' held from June 30 to July 4, a total of 938 applicants competed for 366 positions, resulting in an average competition rate of 2.56 to 1.
This competition rate is somewhat lower than last year's 3.5 to 1. By category, kindergarten teachers had the highest competition rate at 13.75 to 1, with 275 applicants for 20 positions. Elementary school teachers had a competition rate of 1.68 to 1, with 535 applicants for 318 positions. Special school (kindergarten) teachers had a rate of 6.4 to 1, with 32 applicants for 5 positions, and special school (elementary) teachers had a rate of 4.17 to 1, with 96 applicants for 23 positions.
The proportion of male applicants was 35.4%, an increase of 5.6% compared to last year. By category, elementary school had the highest proportion at 55.5%, followed by kindergarten at 0.7%, special school (kindergarten) at 18.8%, and special school (elementary) at 29.2%.
Meanwhile, the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education plans to hold the first round of the exam on November 9, with test locations to be announced on November 1 through the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education website.
