Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 10th that the 'Gangseo-gu Life Safety Insurance,' which was first implemented on February 1st this year, is receiving great response from residents.

This insurance compensates for damages caused by unexpected accidents in daily life, and as of the end of September this year, approximately 48 million KRW in insurance payments have been made to a total of 354 people. This means that on average, three people received insurance payments every two days.

Gangseo-gu Life Safety Insurance covers up to 5 million KRW for injury-related aftereffects (excluding traffic injuries), 100,000 KRW for injury diagnosis with more than 4 weeks of treatment, 500,000 KRW for burn surgery costs, and up to 1 million KRW for injury treatment costs from public transportation accidents. Insurance claims can be made up to three years from the date of the accident, and all residents with an address in Gangseo-gu are automatically enrolled.

The majority of residents who received insurance payments were those diagnosed with injuries requiring more than 4 weeks of treatment due to injuries sustained in daily life, and they received 100,000 KRW as a consolation payment.

A resident of Gangseo-gu, Mr. Lee, said, "Last month, I slipped and injured my wrist while coming out of the shower at home and was diagnosed with a 4-week treatment period." He added, "I happened to see information about the Life Safety Insurance on the Gangseo-gu blog and called the consultation center. Thanks to their kind guidance, I was able to receive the 100,000 KRW consolation payment without difficulty." Mr. Kim said, "After receiving a 4-week diagnosis at the hospital, I called the insurance consultation center and claimed the 100,000 KRW consolation payment. It was very helpful as it could be received in addition to the existing private insurance I had."

District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon stated, "There are more unexpected accidents in daily life than people think," and added, "I hope residents who have had accidents since February 1st of this year make sure to utilize the Gangseo-gu Life Safety Insurance to receive support."
