For Those Aged 65 and Older, Infants Over 6 Months, and Immunocompromised Individuals
Ulsan City will begin offering free COVID-19 vaccinations from October 11 until April 30 next year.
The eligible recipients are: △ those aged 65 and over △ immunocompromised individuals aged 6 months and older △ residents and inpatients of facilities vulnerable to infection.
Ulsan City announced that vaccinations will be administered sequentially by age group, starting with seniors aged 75 and over, to prevent severe illness and death among high-risk groups.
Immunocompromised individuals aged 6 months and older, as well as residents and inpatients of facilities vulnerable to infection, will also begin receiving vaccinations from October 11, along with seniors aged 75 and over.
Those wishing to receive the vaccination can check eligibility on the Vaccination Helper website or by contacting their local public health center.
Vaccinations will be provided at 286 designated medical institutions in Ulsan. Recipients can receive the vaccine by verifying its availability and bringing identification and necessary documents, without the need for a prior reservation.
The vaccines administered will be the newly developed JN.1 vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, Novavax), which are effective against the currently prevalent variants. Regardless of the type or number of previous vaccinations, one dose will complete the vaccination process. However, immunocompromised individuals aged 12 and under may require more than one dose and should consult with medical professionals before vaccination.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "COVID-19 variants change every year, and immunity tends to decrease over time," adding, "We hope for active participation in simultaneous vaccination with influenza, as recommended by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, to help seniors aged 65 and over stay healthy throughout the winter."
