Chinese actress Qin Lan (45) has sparked controversy with her strong statement, "Mind your own uterus."

Qin Lan enrolled in the accounting department at Shenyang University of Technology in her hometown of Liaoning Province in northeastern China in 1999, but found it was not a good fit. After winning a beauty pageant six months later, she began her acting career. She soon gained recognition for her outstanding beauty. In 2003, Qin Lan rose to stardom by playing the role of Ji Hua, a concubine of Prince Yongchi, in the drama "My Fair Princess 3." Viewers of the drama expected her to fit the role of pleasing men, but despite being in her mid-40s and unmarried, Qin Lan rejects conservative values and freely dates multiple men.

From 2004 to 2006, Qin Lan dated Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming, who is the ex-husband of mainland Chinese actress Angelababy. She even paid a penalty of 10 million yuan (approximately 1.9 billion KRW) to her agency to be with Huang Xiaoming. Later, she dated Chinese film director Lu Chuan, with whom she worked on the 2009 film "City of Life and Death," but they broke up in 2014. According to recent reports, Qin Lan is currently dating actor Wei Daxun (35), who is 10 years her junior.

In an interview, she revealed that a former boyfriend proposed to her, but she declined because she did not want to get married. She also said, "Everyone wants to find the perfect match in a romantic relationship, but that only exists in a screw factory," and added, "I must live like a star to shine myself." Qin Lan responded to fans who commented on her interview article urging her to get married and have children by saying, "My uterus is none of your business." SCMP described Qin Lan as "an independent individual who resists the conservative value that one should marry and have children at the right age, choosing instead to date men for love."

Qin Lan has starred in hit works such as "Story of Yanxi Palace" (2018) and the feminist drama "Magic Woman" (2023), and will also appear as the lead in the upcoming TV drama "Assassin" scheduled to be released this year. Local netizens supporting Qin Lan have left comments such as "She is our role model," "I feel so relieved," and "Marry only when you truly want to, not because others pressure you."
