At the Singapore Lecture: "Blessings to North Korean Residents in a Unified Korea"
President Yoon Suk-yeol emphasized on the 9th (local time), during his state visit to Singapore, that "if a free and unified Korean Peninsula is realized, peace in not only the Korean Peninsula but also the Indo-Pacific region and the international community can make groundbreaking progress."
On the same day, President Yoon stated at the 'Singapore Lecture' hosted by the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies under the Singapore government at a city hotel, "With North Korea's nuclear threat disappearing and the international non-proliferation regime becoming solidified, efforts to build peace and trust among countries and regions in the area will be greatly activated."
He added, "The demand for illegal transactions in regional waters will significantly decrease, and a safer and freer navigation order can be guaranteed."
President Yoon said, "A unified Korean Peninsula will be a blessing that grants freedom so desperately desired by 26 million North Korean residents suffering from poverty and tyranny," and "If a free and open unified Korean Peninsula is realized, it will be a historic achievement that greatly expands the value of freedom."
He also stated, "Korea, having gained greater freedom, will contribute more significantly to freedom and human rights in the region and the international community," and "The realization of a free and open unified Korean Peninsula will also provide a strong driving force for economic development and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region."
President Yoon predicted, "A vast market spanning the Pacific, the Korean Peninsula, and the Eurasian continent will open, connected by an open Korean Peninsula," and "There will be an outburst of active investment and cooperation demand across energy, logistics, transportation, infrastructure, and tourism."
The Singapore Lecture is a globally prestigious lecture program hosted by the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies with the support of the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, inviting major heads of state visiting the country to deliver speeches.
