Junggwan Library, First-Come-First-Served Registration for About 100 People
Gijang-gun, Busan (Governor Jeong Jongbok), will hold a meeting with author Lee Seonju of Gijang-gun's Book of the Year, "Taegu Is Curious About the Neighbors," at Jeonggwan Library at 2 p.m. on Saturday, the 12th.
This meeting with the author is part of the event "Gijang, Meeting Children's Books: Gijang-gun Book of the Year," a reading campaign where the local community reads and participates in one book together.
On this day, author Lee Seonju will be invited to give a lecture and hold a book talk with local residents under the theme "Who Lives in My Neighborhood? - Neighbors and Me."
Registration for participation is on a first-come, first-served basis through the Jeonggwan Library website, and about 100 people from elementary students to adults will be recruited. For more details about the "Meeting with the Author" event, please refer to the Jeonggwan Library website or contact the Gijang-gun Library and Jeonggwan Library team.
A Gijang-gun official said, "We hope that this lecture will help form a sense of empathy with the author and deepen understanding of the work, contributing to the establishment of a reading culture in which the local community participates together."
"Gijang-gun Book of the Year" is the representative reading culture promotion campaign of Gijang-gun Public Library. It was launched to create a reading atmosphere and build consensus by having residents directly select books, and this year marks its seventh anniversary.
In April, the county held online and offline voting for a month on three candidate books for this year's Book of the Year, with residents participating. Lee Seonju's "Taegu Is Curious About the Neighbors" was finally selected.
The county is reaching out to local residents with a variety of reading culture events based on the selected book, including ▲meetings with the author ▲book report contests ▲related institution contests ▲special lectures linked to the Book of the Year, and more.
