At the '6th Meeting of the Delivery Platform-Affiliated Vendor Mutual Growth Council' held in the afternoon at the Shinhan Bank headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, comprehensive discussions and presentations were made regarding the main demands of the affiliated vendors and other related tasks.
The affiliated vendors requested ▲measures to ease the burden on vendors such as commission fees ▲indication of vendor-borne items (commission fees and delivery fees) on consumer receipts ▲cessation of most-favored-nation demands ▲sharing of delivery driver location information, totaling four key points. The platform side explained their position regarding these demands.
The government summarized and announced issues related to transparency, commission burdens, and other tasks discussed so far in the mutual growth council. Final opinions from both sides on these matters were also collected. Additionally, they reviewed establishing a foundation for communication among stakeholders and discussed ways for platform companies to voluntarily participate in mutual cooperation. They also negotiated promotion plans for public delivery apps to improve the monopolistic structure of the delivery platform market.
The mutual growth council discussions are approaching their final stages. Based on previous negotiations, a 7th meeting will be held on the 14th for final adjustments. The government explained that after further consultations, the discussions will be concluded promptly.
The government stated, "If delivery platforms and affiliated vendors reach an agreement, the contents will be announced as a mutual growth plan," and added, "If differences are not resolved, a public interest commissioner will propose a mediation plan, and if the delivery platform companies do not accept the mediation plan, it will be announced as a recommendation."
Furthermore, "We are taking the market situation, including commission conflicts between delivery platforms and affiliated vendors, very seriously," and "we plan to actively support the derivation of measures this month that allow small business owners, consumers, and delivery platforms to coexist harmoniously," the government explained.
