October 11 Event at Munhwa Jeongwon Art Hall Commemorating Mental Health Day
Lecture on Mental Health Management by Psychiatrist Professor Han Chang-su
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) announced that it will hold a “Mental Health Day” commemorative event at 1:30 PM on October 11 at the Cultural Garden Art Hall.
“Mental Health Day” is a statutory commemorative day established on October 10 every year to emphasize the importance of mental health and to eliminate prejudice against mental illnesses.
The event, organized by the Geumcheon-gu Mental Health Welfare Center, consists of a pre-performance, a mental health lecture by a guest expert, and mental illness awareness promotion on various topics.
The pre-performance features the “Soleole Popera” group, composed of tenor Choi Yong-ho, who appeared on “Phantom Singer” and “I Am Solo,” along with two others. They will present familiar and heartwarming songs such as “Champagne Aria,” “This Is the Moment,” and “Some Enchanted Day in October,” offering the audience relaxation and enjoyment.
The main lecture, titled “We Are Not Always Able to Stay Positive,” will be conducted by psychiatrist Professor Han Chang-soo, who has appeared on various broadcasting media including “Secrets of Life and Death” and “Ask Me Anything.”
During the lecture, participants will have time to understand and look into their inner selves, which they usually do not easily recognize. They will learn how to manage their minds to avoid falling into depression and anxiety disorders.
Before and after the event, various promotional booths aimed at improving awareness of mental illnesses will be set up to provide mental health-related information and attract participants’ interest through OX quizzes and other activities.
The event is open to all residents who want to learn about mental health management methods without prior registration.
Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Through the Mental Health Day event, I hope residents will once again recognize the importance of mental health and learn better mental health management methods. We will continue to spare no effort in supporting the promotion of residents’ mental health.”
