Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Department of Medical Skin Care Wins Bronze Prize at Competency-Based Learning Best Practices Contest Kim Chaerin, a graduate of the Medical Skin Beauty Department at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, who received the bronze prize.

The 'Best Practices Contest for Qualification Holders,' hosted by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea (Chairman Lee Wooyoung), selects final winners through internal and external expert evaluations of submitted works that describe personal experiences in acquiring competency-based national qualifications, cases of utilizing those qualifications in the labor market, and examples of improving job competency through the qualifications. Awards are also given to the winners.

Kim Chaerin, who received the Bronze Prize, completed a 530-hour training course and obtained the national technical qualification as a Skin Care Specialist (Esthetician) through the competency-based qualification system conducted at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology on September 22 last year. After completing a long-term field internship, she secured full-time employment at Medical Aesthetic, a major dermatology hospital in Busan, in January this year and is currently working there.

The 'Competency-based Qualification' is a national technical qualification system introduced by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea. It grants national technical qualifications to those who complete an education and training program that meets certain requirements based on the National Competency Standards (NCS) aimed at cultivating practical, work-oriented talent, and who meet the passing criteria (a score of 80 or higher) through internal and external evaluations.

The Department of Medical Skin Care at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology is the first and only training institution for the competency-based Skin Care Specialist (Esthetician) qualification in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions. Since 2020, it has been fostering a new occupation called 'Beauty Healthcare Coordinator,' which combines medicine and beauty. Based on its accumulated educational infrastructure and know-how in human resources development, the department has solidified its status as an educational institution providing comprehensive professional skin care services in the anti-aging and medical tourism industries, proving its achievements through consistent, field-oriented vocational education.

In addition to the LINC 3.0 Project, the department is also carrying out various government-supported projects such as the University Innovation Support Project, the Regional Junior College Revitalization Project, the Competency-based National Technical Qualification Project for Skin Care Specialists, and the NCS-based Curriculum Recognition Project, further solidifying its status as the 'nation's first and only department' in this field.
