"Passive Explanation from the Presidential Office Despite Myung Taegyun's Impeachment Mention"
Jo Guk, leader of the Jo Guk Innovation Party, raised his voice saying, "If Mr. Myeong Taegyun exerted influence after President Yoon Seok-yeol's inauguration and it was enforced, it is a clear case of state affairs manipulation and grounds for impeachment."
On the 8th, Jo appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "Why was President Park Geun-hye impeached? It was because it was confirmed that a person who was not part of the official organization intervened in the president's decision-making and personnel and policy matters, which caused an explosion," he said.
Currently, Mr. Myeong Taegyun, the key figure suspected of interfering in Kim Geon-hee's nomination, has begun to openly state his position through media interviews. Through Channel A the previous day, Mr. Myeong reportedly said, "If I am investigated by the prosecution, I will ask the prosecutor, 'Are you going to arrest me or not? If it takes a month, it will be a resignation and impeachment, can you handle it?' I will say, 'If you can handle it, do it.'" This is interpreted as hinting at additional revelations related to the nomination interference suspicion if the prosecution investigation proceeds.
In particular, Jo pointed out that Mr. Myeong's mention of 'impeachment' could mean that he possesses significant evidence that could be grounds for impeachment. Jo said, "What could be the reason for the president to be impeached or to resign? It must be something related to himself (Mr. Myeong)," adding, "If (Mr. Myeong) discussed personnel and policy matters with President Yoon and First Lady Kim Geon-hee, and if such discussions or consultations took place since the start of the Yoon administration, that itself is grounds for resignation or impeachment."
Jo continued, "Mr. Myeong Taegyun is boldly claiming that the president could resign or be impeached within a month, but the presidential office is giving very passive explanations," and criticized, "If it is not true, they should issue a press release stating that since the president's inauguration, there has never been any communication with Mr. Myeong Taegyun, nor have they received any reports related to personnel or policy, but there is no such statement now."
Furthermore, he said, "More important than interference in nominations during the election period through Mr. Myeong Taegyun and others is whether there was interference in state affairs such as personnel recommendations and policy proposals after President Yoon Seok-yeol's inauguration," adding, "If personnel manipulation or policy-related interference was done directly to President Yoon or through First Lady Kim Geon-hee, this is exactly the second Choi Soon-sil. I believe the focus is on this issue, and we will strive to clarify it."
