Obigo Strengthens SDV Platform Architecture... "Targeting 540 Trillion Won Future Car SW Market"

The complete vehicle industry is focusing on transitioning to software-defined vehicles (SDV) to secure a leading position in the future mobility market. Among them, Obigo, a smart car software (SW) specialist company, announced on the 8th that it is accelerating the construction of its own SDV platform by unveiling next-generation solutions based on the Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS), advancing autonomous driving, and expanding driver-customized services. The goal is to develop an independent SDV platform and lead the future mobility era.

According to related industries, major global automakers are actively participating in technology development and standard cooperation necessary for the SDV transition. Tesla not only developed the first 'centralized control system' that controls vehicles with an integrated chipset but also completed its own vehicle operating system (OS), making it the closest to mass-producing SDVs. Hyundai Motor Group plans to unveil its first SDV model in 2026 and launch a full-stack SDV equipped with over-the-air (OTA) updates and autonomous driving on all vehicles by 2027.

Last month, Obigo presented an SW-centered vehicle SDV platform architecture at the 'Korea Promising Industry Innovation Ecosystem Policy Forum,' jointly hosted by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and the Republic of Korea National Assembly Members' Association. Obigo possesses numerous technological tasks and accumulated know-how in core SDV elements such as ▲centralized architecture and SW app/data middleware ▲virtualization and cloud environments ▲user and vehicle data APIs △autonomous driving and IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) fields. In particular, it has outstanding technological capabilities in connectivity, data, and service sectors centered on IVI.

Currently, Obigo is also achieving results in building a data architecture to expand the ecosystem of vehicle-customized services. Data architecture is necessary to standardize and structure various data information required to implement diverse services within vehicles. Obigo plans to continuously secure high-quality services by continuously forming partnerships with promising content companies and introduce new user experiences.

Earlier, in the autonomous driving sector, Obigo was recognized for its technological capabilities by being selected as the lead company for the 9.3 billion KRW 'Open Source-Based Open SW Platform Development Project,' overseen by the Korea Automotive Technology Institute on June 13 this year. Through this project, Obigo will develop an 'open autonomous driving platform' to enable autonomous driving technology to be utilized not only in the automotive industry but also in various industries such as robotics, logistics, ships, and agricultural machinery. Additionally, it will ▲develop open-source-based multi-platform middleware ▲integrate and secure scalability of open multi-SW platforms ▲derive control technologies for AWS cloud. Through this, Obigo plans to apply an advanced autonomous driving system based on 'perception, prediction, and control' algorithms to a wide range of industries, including robot taxis.

Hwang Do-yeon, CEO of Obigo, said, "We are collaborating with leading companies from startups to global enterprises to secure killer services that can become core competitiveness in the SDV transition," adding, "We are thoroughly preparing so that Obigo can leap forward as a platform company leading the SDV service market." He emphasized, "We will expand our business portfolio with SDV-specialized content and services in line with the future SDV service market."

Meanwhile, based on independently developed embedded SW technology, Obigo counts major global automakers such as ▲Hyundai Motor Group ▲KG Mobility ▲Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi ▲Toyota Korea ▲Volvo Korea ▲Jaguar Land Rover among its clients.
