Gijang County, All Residents to Join Efforts for KTX-Eum Stop... Three General Rallies Planned

Gijang-gun, Busan (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on the 7th that, as the strong will and desire of local residents to attract a KTX-Eum stop is spreading, a series of three 'All-Residents Rally' events will be held in the near future.

The rally aims to spread Gijang residents' enthusiasm for the KTX-Eum stop nationwide and to reaffirm that establishing a stop in Gijang-gun is not a choice but a necessity.

Residents from all walks of life in Gijang County are participating in the campaign to attract the KTX-Eum stop station.

The county plans to organize the event in conjunction with the region's major festivals, such as the Chaseong Cultural Festival (October 12) and the Jeonggwan Ecological Stream Learning and Culture Festival (October 18), bringing together the earnest wishes of Gijang residents for the KTX-Eum station and expressing them externally as one unified voice.

Furthermore, the county intends to separately plan and hold a 'Attraction Festa with Residents' (tentative name) in November, pouring all public and private efforts into the final decision on the station stop.

Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "Since last March, a relay of all-resident support messages and performances for attracting the station, involving residents from all walks of life in the region, have been held dozens of times. Through this All-Residents Rally, we will unite the aspirations of our community and deliver the collective desire for a KTX-Eum stop to KORAIL and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport."

In 2022, Gijang-gun completed a feasibility study for attracting a KTX-Eum stop, and in 2023, directly submitted a petition with 141,000 resident signatures to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
