"Record Blood Sugar, Diet, and Exercise Data in App"
Personalized Coaching by Specialists and Nutritionists
The personalized blood sugar management program introduced by POSCO Pohang Steelworks to promote employee health is receiving positive feedback among staff members.
An employee participating in the blood sugar management program at POSCO Pohang Steelworks is checking real-time blood sugar levels recorded on the dedicated app.
This health promotion program is greatly assisting employees who are at risk of developing diabetes, those who already have diabetes, as well as in the prevention and management of the disease.
So far, a total of 260 participants have been recruited, and the program has been conducted over six sessions, each lasting 12 weeks, with four sessions already completed.
Participants wear a continuous glucose monitor that allows them to check their blood sugar levels in real time, and this data is automatically recorded through a dedicated application.
Furthermore, participants can enter information about their exercise, diet, and other lifestyle habits into the app to receive personalized blood sugar management advice from rehabilitation medicine specialists and clinical nutritionists.
This systematic approach is helping participants take a more proactive role in managing their health.
As a result of running the program during the first half of this year, about 90% of the 99 participants experienced positive health improvements, such as lower fasting blood sugar and weight loss.
One participant who showed the most significant changes saw their average fasting blood sugar decrease to 126mg/dl and lost 16.7kg in weight.
An employee who participated in the blood sugar improvement program said, "Being able to check my blood sugar trends in real time helped me learn which foods are good or harmful for me," and added, "Reviewing my blood sugar data and receiving one-on-one coaching with an expert was a great help in managing my health."
