Seoul National University Graduate School of Environmental Studies 4th ESG Expert Program Visits Outstanding Local Government Yeoncheon-gun

Seoul National University Graduate School of Environmental Studies 4th ESG Expert Program Visits Outstanding Local Government Yeoncheon-gun Faculty and students of the 4th ESG Expert Course at Seoul National University Graduate School of Environmental Studies are taking a commemorative photo after visiting Yeoncheon-gun, an excellent local government in advanced ESG administration.

The faculty and students of the 4th ESG Expert Course at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Seoul National University, visited Yeoncheon-gun, an excellent local government in advanced ESG administration, from the 4th for a 2-day, 1-night schedule to explore development directions for a sustainable future and to review the outcomes of policy efforts through the integration of ESG management and administration.


At the 'ESG Advanced Administration' Yeoncheon-gun Best Practices presentation held on the 4th at the Yeoncheon Library audiovisual room, the Yeoncheon Carbon Neutral Support Center presented major policies and implementation cases related to carbon neutrality in Yeoncheon-gun.


At the evening banquet, Kim Deok-hyun, the mayor of Yeoncheon-gun, attended and promoted Yeoncheon’s future growth potential. He pledged that not only companies but also local governments will fulfill their social responsibilities through the practice of ESG management and take the lead in environmental protection and creating social value. He also expressed his expectation for cooperation between Yeoncheon-gun and the expert course students, who are playing central roles in various sectors of society, including the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Seoul National University, and asked for continuous support for Yeoncheon-gun’s sustainable development.


In response, Yoon Soon-jin, dean of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Seoul National University, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from Mayor Kim and the people of Yeoncheon, saying that they had a happy time enjoying the peaceful and beautiful scenery of Yeoncheon. He stated his hope that Yeoncheon will continue to develop as a leading city in the ESG field through eco-friendly policies and ESG management, emphasizing the intention for ongoing cooperation.


The visit of the ESG Expert Course of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Seoul National University to Yeoncheon-gun has been continuously held since the 2022 'ESG Korea Awards' special prize for 'ESG Advanced Administration' (Seoul National University Graduate School of Environmental Studies Dean’s Award). Over the two-day schedule, participants shared Yeoncheon-gun’s best practices in advanced ESG administration, toured the Jungmyeon DMZ Carbon Neutral Village, Yeoncheon World UNESCO Global Geopark, and Jeongok Prehistoric Museum, exploring the pristine natural environment and rich historical culture, concluding their visit to Yeoncheon.
