Strengthening Local Public Education, Joining Forces to Promote Special Education Development Zones
Yeongju City signed a business agreement with Yeongju Girls' High School on the 7th to promote the Regional Innovation-Type Autonomous Public High School 2.0 initiative.
The Autonomous Public High School 2.0 system is a policy in which schools sign agreements with various local entities such as local governments, universities, and companies to innovate their curricula by utilizing regional resources. If selected through a public contest, schools can autonomously design their curricula, academic schedules, and teaching methods according to their circumstances, and receive a total of 200 million KRW in financial support from the Ministry of Education and the Office of Education.
This agreement includes: ▲ Establishing a cooperative system to strengthen the educational capacity of local high schools ▲ Sharing human and material resources for the operation of Autonomous Public High School 2.0 ▲ Improving the educational capacity of public education institutions to help local residents settle in the community ▲ Providing information to future-proof the high school credit system and curriculum ▲ Supporting the operation of local career experience programs ▲ Providing financial support and revitalizing industry-academia cooperation for nurturing outstanding talent.
Yeongju City plans to continuously build a cooperative system to effectively utilize local human and material resources for Yeongju Girls' High School's selection as an Autonomous Public High School 2.0, and to support the operation of various programs for revitalizing local education in connection with the Yeongju-type Educational Development Special Zone project.
Park Namseo, Mayor of Yeongju, stated, "We will cooperate with each other for the transition of Yeongju Girls' High School to Autonomous Public High School 2.0 in response to the digital transformation and the crisis of rapidly declining school-age population," adding, "Through this agreement, we will make active efforts to strengthen local public education in connection with the Educational Development Special Zone project."
