Kim Tae-gyu, Acting Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, will be absent from the afternoon National Assembly Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee (STIBC) audit on the 7th due to the death of his father-in-law.
According to the Communications Commission, Chairman Kim received the obituary notice after completing the morning audit. He informed the STIBC, and the committee, through an agreement between ruling and opposition party secretaries, agreed to accept Chairman Kim's absence in the afternoon.
The STIBC is conducting the audit on the Communications Commission and its affiliated organizations, including the Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation (KOBACO) and the Korea Communications Agency.
The STIBC also urged Lee Jin-sook, the Communications Commission Chairperson whose duties have been suspended due to impeachment proceedings, to attend in the afternoon, and is considering issuing a summons if she fails to appear. Chairperson Lee conveyed her intention not to attend, citing the ongoing impeachment trial as the reason.
