As the risk of safety accidents increases in the autumn season, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has launched a special safety campaign throughout October to strengthen safety management.

On the 7th, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries conducted an in-house safety campaign in collaboration with the Ulsan branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Ulsan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.

The campaign was attended by about 30 people, including 24 executives of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, such as CEO Noh Jin-yul, and 7 officials from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, including Kim Beom-seok, head of the Ulsan branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

At the main gate of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, they distributed notices containing key operational details during the special safety activity period to employees arriving for work, urging them to work safely.

In addition, in connection with the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s '4 Prohibitions Campaign' aimed at preventing accidents in the shipbuilding industry, they held an event to post promotional materials on the four prohibitions?prohibition of disabling safety devices, prohibition of operating unknown machinery, prohibition of working without protective gear, and prohibition of maintenance on operating machinery?on the outside of company shuttles and commuter buses. This is expected to spread a culture of compliance with safety rules and raise workers’ safety awareness.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries designated this month as a special safety activity enhancement period because statistically, as the heat subsides and the weather cools in October, the volume of work increases, and safety accidents tend to rise accordingly.

Furthermore, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries requires supervisors to spend more than half of their working hours on-site to fully focus on field-centered safety activities.

Along with this, the company is focusing on measures such as conducting an initial inspection within one hour after starting high-risk work, inspections based on the '4S (Stop·Stay·See·Say)' method, and mandatory safety communication after inspections. They are also strengthening management of basic rules such as compliance with internal speed limits and wearing safety protective gear.
