American rock legend Bruce Springsteen is regarded as the most American artist. His 1984 release, "Born in the U.S.A.," is one of his million-selling signature songs. Although the title suggests patriotism, it is not at all. The song deals with the hardships of American workers and the lower class and criticizes the government for neglecting Vietnam War veterans. "Born in the U.S.A." means a desire to reclaim the proud America of the past. Springsteen is also progressive.

On the 4th, Springsteen posted a video on his Instagram expressing support for Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party's vice presidential candidate. In the video filmed inside a restaurant, Springsteen said of Harris, "She respects and embraces everyone regardless of class, religion, race, political views, or sexual identity," adding, "She is committed to the vision of this country and aims to grow the economy in a way that benefits not just a few like me, but everyone. Above all, that is the vision of America I have consistently written about for 55 years."

Springsteen harshly criticized former President Donald Trump. He said, "Since the Civil War, this great country has never been as politically, mentally, and emotionally divided as it is now," adding, "It doesn't have to be this way." He continued, "Donald Trump is the most dangerous presidential candidate of my life," saying, "He has despised the sanctity of our Constitution, democracy, the rule of law, and the peaceful transfer of power. He must be removed from the presidency again."

Springsteen said, "As a fellow citizen, I respect your choice," but added, "Like you, I only have one vote, and it is one of my most precious rights. So on November 5th, I will vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz."

Springsteen previously supported former Democratic Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and in 2016, when Trump was elected, he supported Hillary Clinton. Before Springsteen, celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey, Sigourney Weaver, George Clooney, Beyonc?, and Billie Eilish also supported Harris.
