Dong-A University Professor Emeritus Kim Minnam Publishes Memoir "Moments Where Thoughts Linger" to Celebrate His 88th Birthday

Editorial Board and Publication by Alumni and Student Groups: Includes Essays, Poems, and Contributions

Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on the 7th that Professor Emeritus Kim Minnam from the Department of Media and Communication has published a commemorative essay collection titled "Moments Where Thoughts Stay" in celebration of his Misoo (88th birthday).

This book was published by the "Mukhye Kim Minnam Misoo Commemorative Essay Collection Editorial Committee," which was formed by alumni and student groups from the Dong-A University Newspaper, where Professor Kim participated as an editor, and the Department of Journalism and Broadcasting and the Department of Sociology, both of which he helped establish.

Professor Emeritus Kim, a former journalist dismissed from Dong-A Ilbo and a prominent journalist and media scholar in the Busan region, is known as an "intellectual in action." Even after retirement, he continues to be active as a poet and essayist.

This book contains 39 essays written by him from September 2020 to August 2024, a contribution to the Dong-A Ilbo Declaration of Free Press 50th Anniversary Commemorative Collection, and 21 poems. His poems and essays, which sharply critique society, reflect his contemplation on the ups and downs of the times, everyday life, global issues, and his passionate concern for Korean society and reality.

Editorial Committee Chair Cha Yongbeom wrote in the preface, "History is the record of living people, and people remember through records, and those memories remain as history," adding, "This book, too, may be a historical record that goes beyond an individual's history to look into Korean society and global phenomena, documenting the social history of an era."

President Lee Haewoo, in his congratulatory message included in the book, said, "The insightful writings of Professor Kim Minnam, a leading intellectual representing Dong-A University, will deeply resonate with many readers and impart wisdom," adding, "I would like to once again express my gratitude for your long-standing interest in and support for the development of your alma mater."
