"Employment Rate 83%"... Samsung Recruiting 13th SSAFY Cohort for Youth SW Talent Development

Applications Accepted from October 21 to November 4
Monthly Support of 1 Million Won, Education Provided for One Year

Samsung Electronics announced on the 7th that it has begun recruiting students for the 13th class of the Samsung Youth SW Academy (SSAFY).

The application period is from the 21st of this month to the 4th of next month. Anyone under the age of 29 preparing for employment can apply.

SSAFY is a social contribution program operated by Samsung Electronics to enhance young people's employment competitiveness and expand the IT ecosystem.

The 13th class students will receive education over two semesters for one year starting from January next year at five campuses nationwide, including Seoul, Daejeon, Gwangju, Gumi, and Busan.

Starting from the 13th class, the eligibility criteria have been expanded to allow not only university graduates but also Meister High School graduates to apply. This reflects Samsung Electronics' commitment to providing more young people with software (SW) education opportunities to address youth unemployment and the shortage of SW talent.

SSAFY operates a systematic curriculum from basic education to practical projects to cultivate practical SW talent ready for immediate deployment in the field. Each regional campus offers specialized courses tailored to the region.

For example, the Daejeon campus runs a 'Data Track' focused on data engineering, Gwangju offers an 'Embedded Robot Track' dealing with collaborative and service robots, Gumi operates a 'Mobile Track' for Android development, and Seoul provides an 'Embedded Track' where students can learn about systems and modules.

In line with the AI era, SSAFY plans to establish its own AI learning system and nurture developers equipped with AI literacy. It is introducing AI-based practical systems and is developing new projects including generative AI projects and On-Device based AI projects.

SSAFY students receive free SW education along with a monthly education support allowance of 1 million KRW. Employment consultants provide systematic career counseling, and various employment support programs such as job fairs, company briefings, and mentoring exclusively for SSAFY students are also operated.

From the 1st to the 10th class, a total of about 8,000 students have graduated from SSAFY, and the cumulative employment rate up to the 9th class reaches 83%. Including those who completed the education early and found employment, about 6,500 people have succeeded in getting jobs. It is expected that more young people will be able to enhance their employment competitiveness through SW education with the recruitment of the 13th class.

Samsung carries out various social contribution activities for youth education and win-win cooperation based on its CSR vision, "Together to the Future! Enabling People." These include youth programs such as SSAFY, Samsung Hope Bridge, and Samsung Dream Class, as well as cooperative projects like supporting smart factories for small and medium enterprises, C-Lab, and the establishment of a win-win fund.
