This nighttime joint crackdown on illegal structural modifications of two-wheeled vehicles was carried out through an organic cooperation system with the Uijeongbu City Bus Policy Division, Environmental Policy Division, Uijeongbu Police Station, and automobile safety inspectors from the Korea Transportation Safety Authority Gyeonggi Northern Headquarters, who are experts in automobile safety management.
The participating organizations focused on cracking down on illegal modifications (tuning) of two-wheeled vehicles, violations of safety standards, license plate damage, exceeding noise standards, and possession of a driver's license.
As a result of blocking the road and conducting inspections on 58 two-wheeled vehicles, a total of 26 violations of the "Automobile Management Act" were detected, including ▲2 cases of illegal modifications (tuning), ▲18 cases of safety standard violations, ▲2 cases of license plate-related violations, and ▲4 other violations, as well as violations of the "Road Traffic Act" (1 case of driving with a suspended license).
Administrative measures such as restoration to original condition and fines will be taken for violations of the Automobile Management Act.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, "We will continue to promote crackdowns and awareness campaigns on illegally modified (tuned) two-wheeled vehicles that threaten drivers and pedestrians and cause noise discomfort, to create a city where people want to walk and where traffic is safe."
