Uijeongbu City Successfully Concludes the 39th Hoeryong Cultural Festival, Celebrating a History of Harmony and Communication

Mayor Kim Dong-geun is attending the '39th Hoeryong Cultural Festival' to announce the start of the festival.

Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 7th that the "39th Hoeryong Cultural Festival," which holds a history of harmony and communication, was successfully held from the 5th to the 6th, centered around the special stage at the Hoeryongsa Entrance Intersection in Howon-dong.

The Hoeryong Cultural Festival is a traditional cultural festival hosted by the Uijeongbu Cultural Center (Director Yoon Seong-hyun) since 1986, making it the longest-running festival among Uijeongbu City festivals to date.

This year's Hoeryong Cultural Festival was held at the Hoeryongsa Entrance Intersection in Howon-dong, reflecting the significance of Hoeryong and Jeonja Village, continuing from last year.

On the 5th, the special stage hosted the 53rd Citizens' Day commemorative ceremony followed by the opening ceremony of the 39th Hoeryong Cultural Festival. Especially, the "Hoeryongga," themed on the meeting of Taejo and Taejong, was followed by a "Dream Stage Performance (Concert)" organized by citizens, shifting the focus from invited singers to citizens as the main protagonists of the festival, adding greater meaning.

On the 6th, a traditional play competition between districts was held. Competitions were held by district featuring traditional games such as Panjegi, Tuho, and Yutnori, and various performances were also showcased on stage, making the festival even more abundant.

A citizen who took the stage said, "I work in Uijeongbu, and performing on stage with my colleagues was nerve-wracking but truly overwhelming," adding, "Practicing together for about a month helped me newly appreciate the Hoeryong Cultural Festival, and I think I will continue to take an interest in it."

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, "The successful hosting of the 39th Hoeryong Cultural Festival in Jeonja Village again this year was thanks to the empathy and understanding of many citizens," and added, "Like the meaning of Hoeryong, which holds a history of harmony and communication, we will strive to make it the most central cultural and artistic festival of Uijeongbu City together with the citizens."
