The KOSPI index is showing intraday strength, supported by net buying from individual investors.
As of 10:03 AM on the 7th, the KOSPI index is trading at 2,587.66, up 0.7% from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net sellers with 73 billion KRW and 166.3 billion KRW respectively, while individuals are net buyers with 226.8 billion KRW.
Today, the KOSPI index started higher influenced by the strong performance of the U.S. stock market last Friday. However, with Samsung Electronics' earnings announcement approaching, foreigners and institutions are showing cautious sentiment, resulting in the index moving in a narrow range.
By sector, more sectors are rising. The steel and metal sector is up 2.18%, chemicals 1.71%, electrical and electronics 1.05%, machinery 0.91%, manufacturing 0.91%, transportation equipment 0.79%, non-metallic minerals 0.8%, finance 0.74%, distribution 0.64%, food and beverages 0.51%, and paper and wood 0.46% are all showing strength. On the other hand, electricity and gas is down 0.84%, transportation and warehousing -0.62%, and telecommunications -0.46% are weak.
Top market capitalization stocks are mixed. Samsung Electronics is showing weakness, falling to the 50,000 KRW level intraday. At this time, it is down 0.83%. Samsung Biologics is also down 0.5%, and Celltrion remains in a weak range. Conversely, SK Hynix is up 2.64%, LG Energy Solution 4.46%, Hyundai Motor 1.67%, Kia 2.45%, KB Financial Group 2.42%, POSCO Holdings 2.17%, and Shinhan Financial Group 1.09% are all rising.
The KOSDAQ index is showing strong gains of over 1% amid supply and demand battles. At this time, the KOSDAQ index is trading at 778.81, up 1.29% from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net sellers with 3.9 billion KRW and 1.2 billion KRW respectively, while individuals are net buyers with 3.6 billion KRW.
Top market capitalization stocks on KOSDAQ are mixed. Alteogen is up 0.28%, EcoPro BM 5.13%, EcoPro 2.34%, HLB 1.98%, Enchem 2.28%, and Classys 5.42% are rising. On the other hand, Ligacombio is down 1.59%, Samchundang Pharmaceutical -2.72%, Hugel -0.19%, and Lino Industrial -0.05% are declining.
Meanwhile, at the same time in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate is trading at 1,344.0 KRW, down 5.3 KRW from the previous day.
