A man in his 40s dies after being accidentally shot by a colleague while trying to capture wild boars at night

In Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, a hunter mistakenly shot a fellow hunter in his 40s, mistaking him for a wild boar.

According to the police on the 7th, at around 11:30 PM on the 6th, a man in his 40s identified as Mr. A shot his colleague, also in his 40s, Mr. B, in the head on a road in Dongmak-ri, Yeoncheon-eup, Yeoncheon-gun. Mr. B was transported to the hospital but ultimately passed away.

The three hunters, who belong to the Yeoncheon-gun Pest Animal Control Unit, reportedly went out to capture wild boars following a report of their appearance.

The police have determined that Mr. B, the hunter who was shot, was responsible for installing a thermal imaging camera to detect wild boars without carrying a firearm. Mr. A and another fellow hunter had legally checked out hunting rifles.

During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated, "A wild boar did appear, but it was dark, so I think I made a mistake."

The police have booked Mr. A on charges of involuntary manslaughter due to negligence and are investigating the detailed circumstances of the accident.
