Ahead of Year-End GTX-A Opening, Two New Village Bus Routes Established to Improve Accessibility
Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that it will establish two new village bus routes to improve accessibility to ‘GTX Unjeong Jungang Station.’
In July, the city announced the ‘Metropolitan Area Express Railroad (GTX) Central Bus Route Reorganization Plan’ to enhance accessibility to ‘GTX Unjeong Jungang Station,’ which is on the GTX-A line. According to the reorganization plan, once the new bus route system is completed, ▲in the Unjeong area, buses will run every 10 minutes with arrivals within 15 minutes ▲in the Geumchon area, buses will run every 15 minutes with arrivals within 30 minutes ▲in other areas, buses will run every 40 minutes with arrivals within 60 minutes.
To this end, Paju City plans to not only increase and modify existing routes but also establish five new routes to enable the fastest access to GTX Unjeong Jungang Station from each zone. Among these, optimal transportation operators have been selected through a public recruitment announcement and proposal evaluation for two routes, and transportation is scheduled to begin before the opening of GTX Unjeong Jungang Station.
The newly established village bus routes 070A/B will operate a total of 12 buses running in both directions in a loop starting from Unjeong Station, passing through Garam Village, Sannae Village, Gyoha Library, Chorongkkot Village, GTX Unjeong Jungang Station, Hanul Village, and Hanbit Village, with a total of 174 trips at intervals of 10 to 20 minutes.
Additionally, village bus route 072 will operate a total of 6 buses running from Geumchon Station, passing through Paju City Hall, Geumnung Station, and Sannae Village to GTX Unjeong Jungang Station, with a total of 66 trips at 15-minute intervals.
Kim Kyung-il, mayor of Paju City, said, “With the GTX opening approaching soon, we will complete the bus route reorganization early,” and added, “Even after the opening, we will actively review usage demand to ensure there is no inconvenience in using and transferring at GTX Unjeong Jungang Station.”
