Entering the First National Assembly Inspection of the 22nd National Assembly
Verification Related to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Personnel Management
The National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee's audit of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety will begin on the 7th. Key issues include measures to manage Saemaeul Geumgo, which faced a 'bank run' crisis, and allegations of illegal expansion of the presidential residence.
On this day, the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee will start the first audit of the 22nd National Assembly at 10 a.m., targeting the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Personnel Management. Questions are expected to cover major tasks of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, such as disaster safety and local finance, as well as various suspicions.

First, the ongoing crisis and reform plans of Saemaeul Geumgo since last year are expected to be discussed. Saemaeul Geumgo faced a bank run crisis and initiated reforms, but controversies continue over the appropriateness of the acquisition of M Capital. The Public Administration and Security Committee has summoned officials from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Ahn Jeong-sik, CEO of M Capital, as witnesses.
Additionally, the ruling party has requested the testimony of Park Jeong-hak, chairman of Daegu Suseong Saemaeul Geumgo, in connection with allegations of illicit loans involving Yang Moon-seok, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea. Suseong Saemaeul Geumgo reportedly granted a business loan of 1.1 billion won in April 2021 to Yang's eldest daughter, who was a university student at the time, raising suspicions of illicit lending.
Questions are also expected regarding the so-called 'illegal expansion allegations of the presidential residence.' The interior construction company for the presidential residence (21gram) is suspected of receiving a private contract due to its close relationship with First Lady Kim Keon-hee. The client for the construction project is the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Building Management Headquarters. The committee has summoned representatives of the company and Yoon Jae-soon, Secretary General of the Presidential Office, as witnesses.
Meanwhile, regarding the Ministry of Personnel Management, issues such as treatment of MZ generation public officials and workplace harassment within the public service may be raised.
