New Headquarters in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul
Land Sold to SH Corporation for 75.5 Billion KRW
Architect Hyunjoon Yoo, a professor at Hongik University, revealed the design of JYP Entertainment's new headquarters.
On the 6th, Professor Yoo posted on Instagram, "JYP HQ designed by Hyunjoon Yoo Architects," sharing a bird's-eye view of the new JYP headquarters. He stated, "For now, I am only posting images released to the media," and added, "Early next year, I will invite Park Jin-young to my YouTube channel 'Sherlock Hyunjoon' for a discussion, and then I will reveal the rest."
In January, following the 'JYP Integrated New Headquarters Design Competition (tentative name)' held by JYP Entertainment, Hyunjoon Yoo Architects, led by Professor Yoo, was selected as the winner and entrusted with the design. JYP Entertainment stated that they aimed to create a new headquarters that enhances creativity, facilitates free meetings and communication, and features spaces abundant in natural light.
The most distinctive feature is the structure with an open space in the middle of the high-rise building. The underside of the opening is expected to be used as a park or similar space, while the walls on both sides of the opening will be decorated with media art. The upper floors will house offices, and the lower floors will include practice rooms and studios for artists. A space for fans will also be provided on the first floor. Open green spaces will be arranged throughout the building, and the rooftop will be equipped with facilities for helicopter takeoff and landing. However, the design shown in the photos is the proposal submitted by the architectural firm to JYP Entertainment and may be subject to changes depending on the project progress and various approval procedures.
In October last year, JYP Entertainment won the bid for a 10,675㎡ plot of land in Block 2 of the Godeok Gangil District distribution and sales facility site from Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) for 75.5 billion KRW. This amount corresponds to 18.37% of their total assets. The new headquarters will be a building with five basement levels and 22 floors above ground, with a total floor area of 59,475㎡. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025, with completion targeted for 2028.
Last month, JYP Entertainment was listed alongside SM Entertainment in the Korea Exchange's corporate value-up support program, the 'Korea Value-Up Index.' This is the first time a domestic entertainment company has been selected as a support target. In the 'Communication Sector' of the Value-Up Index, JYP was listed alongside content and IT companies such as NCSoft, Cheil Worldwide, and SOOP (AfreecaTV).
