Four Members of Daejinyeon Arrested for Attempting to Enter Presidential Office Under Custody Warrant Review

The police have requested arrest warrants for members of the Korean University Students Progressive Union (Daejin-yeon) who attempted to enter the Presidential Office while demanding a special investigation into First Lady Kim Geon-hee.

On the 6th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced that it had applied for warrants against four Daejin-yeon members on charges of jointly trespassing on a building under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes. The court will conduct a pre-arrest detention hearing (warrant review) later that afternoon.

On the 4th, these individuals gathered in front of the Presidential Office in Yongsan-gu, shouting slogans such as "Investigate Kim Geon-hee with a special prosecutor" and "Stop the veto of the special prosecutor," and attempted to enter the Presidential Office through the back gate of the former Ministry of National Defense but were arrested in flagrante delicto.

In January, 20 Daejin-yeon members were also caught by police while attempting to enter the Presidential Office, demanding a special investigation into First Lady Kim.

The police had applied for arrest warrants twice for some of them, but the court dismissed all requests.
