LG Display "Protect Your Eyes with OLED"... Industry's First 'Biological Rhythm Certification'

All Models from 27-inch to 97-inch
Industry's Lowest Harmful Blue Light Level

LG Display has once again proven that its organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TV and monitor panels are human-friendly displays that protect eye health.

LG Display announced on the 6th that all models of OLED TV and monitor panels, ranging from 27 inches to 97 inches, have become the first in the industry to obtain the 'Circadian Certification' from the US eye safety certification organization 'Eyesafe.' This certification indicates that the panels minimize blue light emission, contributing to the protection of biological rhythms.

The circadian rhythm refers to the human biological pattern that occurs on an approximately 24-hour cycle. The body regulates this rhythm through the secretion of hormones such as melatonin. Using TVs or smartphones at night can affect this rhythm. Accordingly, Eyesafe measures harmful blue light emissions based on the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) standards and developed the 'Circadian Protection Factor (CPF)' based on these measurements.

Verification results showed that LG Display’s OLED TV and monitor panels have the lowest industry level of 36% harmful blue light proportion, earning the highest grade of CPF 50. While excessive reduction of blue light can cause color distortion, LG Display’s self-emissive structure minimizes the impact on biological rhythms while maintaining color reproduction.

The Eyesafe Eye Health Advisory Committee evaluated, "LG Display’s OLED panels are products that have a positive effect on eye health and maintaining biological rhythms even during prolonged viewing."

Earlier, in a clinical trial conducted in July with a research team from Kookmin University, it was found that melatonin secretion decreased by 2.7% in people who watched mini LED TVs in the evening, whereas the OLED TV viewing group showed an 8.1% increase.

LG Display’s OLED panels reduce harmful blue light and have no flickering phenomenon, earning Flicker Free and Reflection Free certifications, drawing attention as displays that protect eye health.

Lee Hyun-woo, head of LG Display’s Large Business Division, said, "We will provide differentiated value with human-friendly OLED technology that considers user health along with the best picture quality."
