Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah are escalating, and with the increasing possibility of direct confrontation with Iran, several countries are accelerating efforts to protect their nationals in Lebanon.
On the 5th (local time), according to various foreign media reports, countries are focusing all efforts on protecting their citizens in preparation for the deteriorating situation in Lebanon, and inter-country cooperation is also being strengthened.
The United States has deployed troops to Cyprus and is working to increase flights. Japan transported its nationals to Jordan using Air Self-Defense Force transport aircraft, and the United Kingdom evacuated more than 150 people by chartered plane. Germany evacuated 219 people, and Greece evacuated 22 of its nationals along with some Cypriot citizens.
Italy adjusted embassy personnel and urged its nationals to leave, while Spain plans to evacuate 350 people by military aircraft. Russia is supporting evacuations with special flights, and China announced that more than 200 people have safely evacuated.
Australia and Canada are preparing large-scale evacuations using maritime transport, and the Netherlands plans to send military aircraft to accommodate foreign nationals as well. The Netherlands stated that it will send military aircraft to Lebanon twice by the end of the day and plans to accommodate nationals of other countries if there is sufficient space on the aircraft.
France and Denmark have not yet taken official evacuation measures but have established emergency plans and are recommending departure.
