1 Million People Expected at Yeouido Fireworks Festival... 2,400 Police Officers Deployed

Full Closure of Mapo Bridge South End to 63 Building Section

It is expected that 1 million people will gather around the Han River, including Yeouido, for the 'Seoul World Fireworks Festival 2024' held on the 5th.

The 'Seoul World Fireworks Festival 2024' will take place around Yeouido Hangang Park starting at 7 PM on the day, lasting for 90 minutes.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government, in cooperation with related organizations such as the organizer Hanwha, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, Yeongdeungpo and Yongsan District Offices, and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, has established a 'Comprehensive Safety Headquarters' at the event site. The safety personnel have also been increased by 28% compared to last year.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency plans to have the Public Safety Chief Officer command overall on-site, designating the police chiefs of Yeongdeungpo, Yongsan, Mapo, and Dongjak Police Stations as area managers. A total of 2,417 personnel will be deployed to manage the crowd, including 558 police officers, 1,380 riot police, and 160 special duty police.

From 2 PM to 11 PM on the day, the section from the southern end of Mapo Bridge on Yeoidong-ro to the 63 Building in Seoul will be completely closed. All 19 bus routes that usually pass through Yeoidong-ro (14 Seoul city buses, 2 village buses, 1 airport bus, and 2 Gyeonggi buses) will be rerouted.

To allow the crowd to disperse quickly after the event, 26 bus routes passing through Yeouido Transfer Center, Yeouido Station, and Yeouinaru Station will have increased service from 8 PM to 10 PM. Subway Lines 5 and 9 will operate 18 and 52 additional trains respectively. In particular, Yeouinaru Station on Line 5 may skip stops without stopping depending on congestion inside the station to ensure citizen safety.

Information on public transportation use, detours, and restricted areas for the Seoul World Fireworks Festival 2024 can be found on the Seoul Transportation Information Center TOPIS website, Twitter, and VMS.
