"Han Dong-hoon Plays a Role in Creating Impeachment Turmoil" Criticism
Shin Pyeong, a lawyer regarded as President Yoon Seok-yeol's political mentor, predicted that if First Lady Kim Geon-hee apologizes, it will become a trigger for creating an impeachment political crisis.
On the 4th, Shin wrote on his Facebook under the title "The Eve of the Impeachment Political Crisis," stating, "Considering the tone of various media and the trends of the opposition, it seems we are currently at the eve of an impeachment political crisis. This means that an impeachment political crisis will soon be created. The National Assembly will propose a resolution for impeachment."
He pointed out that President Yoon's biggest mistake was favoring Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party. "Although President Yoon has done many good things, if I were to name his biggest blunder, it is not something like a medical crisis but a failure in personnel policy," he said. "Instead of fostering a new social atmosphere through appropriate appointments, he has made the public see his administration as a 'prosecutor's regime,' which is the problem." He also added, "Since Han has consistently positioned himself as 'anti-Yoon Seok-yeol' since entering politics and has taken a stance of joint attack with the opposition against the Yoon administration, as long as Han Dong-hoon remains in politics, President Yoon's approval rating will not return to normal," he argued.
Referring to a recent meeting with a key figure in the Democratic Party, he said, "He said with a cheerful expression that the impeachment political crisis is right before our eyes. His words, 'We cannot back down here. Why would we do such a foolish thing?' were full of optimism." He added, "His optimism is also a confidence that Han Dong-hoon can be drawn to support the impeachment resolution. Regardless of Han's true feelings, I hope he realizes that he plays a significant role in the Democratic Party's confidence in successfully creating the impeachment political crisis," he sharply criticized.
"As can be inferred from the review of the past 'Park Geun-hye impeachment political crisis,' the apology from First Lady Kim Geon-hee, which Han and the opposition have persistently demanded, will be a brilliant trigger for creating the impeachment political crisis," he said, while also stating, "We must strongly prevent the unfortunate situation of the National Assembly moving to the stage of proposing an impeachment resolution, but even if that happens, there is no need to be greatly discouraged." He expressed confidence that even if an impeachment resolution is proposed, the Constitutional Court will dismiss it because "President Yoon has no 'serious illegalities in the performance of duties' that would justify impeachment." Rather, he optimistically said, "This will lead to Han's faction being decisively expelled from the conservative camp, eliminating a tremendous source of trouble." He also confidently stated, "The impeachment of President Yoon will surely follow the footsteps of the 'impeachment of President Roh Moo-hyun,' not that of 'President Park Geun-hye's impeachment.'"
