"Pay Child Support" Woman from One-Night Stand Appears After 11 Years... What Is the Court's Ruling?

A story has emerged about a woman who met through a random adult site chat reappearing after 11 years to claim child support.

On the 3rd, MBC's 'True Story Expedition' revealed the story of Mr. A, who was sued for child support by a woman he had a past sexual relationship with. Around March 2023, Mr. A received an SNS message saying, "A person with a daughter shouldn't pretend not to know his own daughter." The message included, "Twelve years have already passed. Raising her alone has been very difficult, so I want to receive even a small amount of child support," along with a photo of the child.

The sender of the message was Ms. B, a woman Mr. A had met long ago. She appeared 11 years after giving birth and claimed that Mr. A was the biological father. Mr. A said about Ms. B, "She was someone I found through random chat to have a relationship with," adding, "We met about once every two to three months. I usually contacted her first, and I tried to reach out around May, but she didn't respond."

He continued, "Actually, I had met someone else before, but she suddenly cut off contact, so it ended. I thought Ms. B was the same case and had forgotten about it," he said. He also said, "Suddenly receiving such a message put me into a panic," and that he considered Ms. B crazy and blocked her contact information.

Soon after, Mr. A received a lawsuit complaint. It demanded payment of 125 million KRW in past child support and 1.5 million KRW monthly for future child support. In the complaint, Ms. B stated, "The plaintiff conceived while dating the defendant, so it is clear that the defendant is the father," and "The plaintiff informed the defendant of the pregnancy, but the defendant urged an abortion. The child was born prematurely at eight months."

Mr. A expressed disbelief, saying, "There is a high possibility that I am not the biological father," and "If we were lovers, shouldn't she prove it? There should be photos together, messages, or even mutual acquaintances, but there is none." He also claimed, "I never heard about the pregnancy at all."

Eventually, Mr. A underwent a DNA test. The result showed a 99.99% probability of paternity. Mr. A's wife said, "I cried like crazy. Because of an illegitimate child my husband didn't know about, I ended up marrying a man with a child," and appealed, "Ms. B did not inform him of the pregnancy, so she ended up raising the child herself. She made that choice, but my husband did not."

Mr. A mentioned that Ms. B was raising a total of four children alone, including his child, and expressed suspicion about her intention to give birth. He pointed out, "At the time she conceived my child, Ms. B was a basic livelihood security recipient," and "I wonder if she had some purpose in having the child."

In fact, Ms. B is a basic livelihood security recipient living in a rental apartment in Gangnam, but various luxury brand photos were posted on her SNS. Regarding this, Ms. B explained, "I changed the surnames of my first and second children after divorcing my ex-husband, and the third child was conceived unintentionally in 2008 when a burglar broke into my house," and "Three years later, I met Mr. A through a random adult site chat."

She also explained her delayed contact, saying, "Around 2021, I watched a broadcast and consulted a lawyer, who told me that claiming child support was possible," and "Before that, I didn't know about child support." Regarding the luxury goods posted on SNS, she retorted, "Is there a law that says poor or rich people can't use luxury goods? Does it violate any law?"

Ultimately, in the appeal trial, Mr. A was ordered to pay Ms. B 49.2 million KRW in past child support and 900,000 KRW monthly for future child support. It was reported that Mr. A has since divorced his wife and is taking responsibility for the child support. Mr. A appealed, "Am I some kind of ATM machine? Do I have to give money whenever asked?"

Netizens responded to the story with comments such as "That must be really confusing," "The biggest victim is the wife," "Even if it's unfair, the child is alive, so it can't be helped," and "Every action comes with responsibility."
