Namyangju City Council Holds the 129th Regular Meeting of the Gyeonggi Eastern Region City and County Chairpersons Association

Discussion on Common Issues in Eastern Gyeonggi Region Including Measures to Respond to Damage in Water Source Management Areas

Chairman Jo Seong-dae of Namyangju City Council is conducting the 129th regular meeting of the Gyeonggi Eastern Region City and County Chairpersons' Association on the 4th at Jeong Yak-yong Library in Namyangju City.

The Namyangju City Council of Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Jo Seong-dae) held the 129th regular meeting of the Gyeonggi Eastern Region City and County Chairpersons' Council on the 4th at the Jeong Yak-yong Library in Namyangju City.

This regular meeting was the first held since Chairman Jo Seong-dae was elected as the president of the Gyeonggi Eastern Region City and County Chairpersons' Council. All chairpersons of the council attended, including Hwang Seon-ho, Chairman of Yangpyeong County Council; Lee Deok-su, Chairman of Seongnam City Council; Heo Gyeong-haeng, Chairman of Gwangju City Council; Geum Gwang-yeon, Chairman of Hanam City Council; Park Myeong-seo, Chairman of Icheon City Council; and Park Du-hyeong, Chairman of Yeoju City Council.

Additionally, Namyangju Mayor Joo Gwang-deok joined the meeting to welcome the council chairpersons, making the occasion even more meaningful.

At the 129th regular meeting, three agenda items were addressed, including the report on the results of the 128th regular meeting, the adoption of a resolution urging the enactment of the 'Local Council Act' to guarantee the autonomy and independence of local councils, and the approval of the minutes of the 128th regular meeting.

Discussions were also held on common issues faced by the city and county councils, such as future response measures to damages in the water source management areas of the Gyeonggi Eastern Region. The attending chairpersons reached a consensus on the need for practical and realistic support measures for citizens of the Gyeonggi Eastern Region who have suffered continuous damage due to excessive overlapping regulations, and spent time brainstorming to prepare related countermeasures, including the establishment of a consultative body.

In his welcoming remarks, Chairman Jo Seong-dae expressed gratitude to the chairpersons who supported the attraction of the Gyeonggi Public Medical Center to Namyangju City, stating, "Thanks to your support, we were able to achieve good results." He added, "I hope this regular meeting will serve as an opportunity to strengthen communication and cooperation among the chairpersons of the Gyeonggi Eastern Region City and County Council and to jointly resolve the problems faced by our citizens in the Gyeonggi Eastern Region who are experiencing many difficulties due to overlapping regulations."

Meanwhile, after the regular meeting, the council chairpersons, guided by Chairman Jo Seong-dae and Mayor Joo Gwang-deok, toured the ‘2024 Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo’ held in the Dasan, Seonhyeong, and Waterfront Park areas of Dasan-dong, Namyangju City, and encouraged the related personnel.
