The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) announced on the 4th that it will conduct a training session on the 5th at Sono Calm in Goyang to strengthen the digital-based English education capabilities of native English assistant teachers and English teachers.
This training was organized to enhance digital-based English education capabilities ahead of the 2022 revised curriculum and the introduction of AI digital textbooks in 2025. About 100 participants, including native English assistant teachers, English specialists, and elementary and secondary English teachers, will attend.
The training will cover various topics presented by Professor Kwon Seo-kyung of Jinju National University of Education, including ▲ English education methods in the digital age ▲ Padlet, CHAT GPT, Canva, digital English textbooks ▲ vocabulary games using Tazia, English reading activities utilizing the metaverse ▲ designing student-communication-oriented English classes using Nearpod ▲ and sharing English class cases.
The entire training will be conducted in English, allowing all teachers to communicate in English and improve both their digital skills and English communication abilities.
In the morning, participants will consider the desirable direction of English education in the digital age and methods for guiding students struggling with personalized digital-based English learning. Native teachers will share various English teaching methods that enhance creativity.
In the afternoon, curriculum and teaching practice cases will be shared by school level for elementary and secondary schools. Participants will practice various AI-based programs that can be used in English classes and design lessons that enable interaction with students.
Hyun Gye-myeong, Director of the Convergence Education Policy Division at the Provincial Office of Education, said, “We hope this training will activate personalized English education and further enhance students’ foreign language communication skills.”
Meanwhile, the Provincial Office of Education plans to hold a sharing session of teaching cases for elementary and secondary English teachers in November and conduct a capacity-building training for native Chinese assistant teachers and Chinese teachers in December.
