Dongducheon City (Mayor Park Hyeong-deok) announced on the 2nd that it held the opening ceremony of the 'Dongducheon Eoullim Center.'
The opening ceremony was attended by about 150 people, including Park Hyeong-deok, Mayor of Dongducheon, Kim Seung-ho, Chairman of the Dongducheon City Council, city and provincial council members, Lim Jeong-mo, Superintendent of Dongducheon Yangju Education Office, Choi Seong-hae, President of Dongyang University, Lee Jong-jin, Chairman of the Facilities Management Corporation, as well as heads of various organizations, social group leaders, and local residents, celebrating the opening of the Eoullim Center.
The Dongducheon Eoullim Center is a project with a total budget of 31.6 billion KRW (3 billion KRW from the national government, 15.4 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 13.2 billion KRW from the city government). It was built by utilizing the underground parking lot of the existing central downtown plaza located at 594-1 Saengyeon-dong, Dongducheon City, constructing a five-story above-ground complex building with a total floor area of 8,363㎡.
The main facilities include a Children's Health Care (Kids Healthcare) Center on the 1st floor, a table tennis hall on the 2nd floor, the Gyeonggi-do Childcare Support Center on the 3rd floor, a swimming pool on the 4th floor, and the Dongducheon City Facilities Management Corporation on the 5th floor. Currently, the 5th floor Facilities Management Corporation has been operating normally since its launch last September.
A city official stated, "Regarding the swimming pool on the 4th floor, membership recruitment began in October, and official operations started on November 1st. Other facilities began operations on October 4th."
Mayor Park Hyeong-deok of Dongducheon said, "We will continue to promote projects that citizens can feel directly, striving to become a city where laughter and hope never cease for our citizens," expressing expectations for revitalizing the old downtown area, including an increase in foot traffic due to the opening of the Dongducheon Eoullim Center.
