Consistent Short Answers to Reporters' Questions
Park Daesung (30), who killed a minor he had never met for no reason, has been handed over to the prosecution.
According to Yonhap News and others, the Suncheon Police Station in Jeollanam-do sent Park Daesung to the prosecution under arrest on charges of murder on the 4th. On that day, he appeared in front of the press as he left the Suncheon Police Station. He did not cover his face with a mask or hat.
When reporters asked, "How much do you remember about the crime?" and "Aren't you sorry for the victim?" he reportedly responded briefly with answers like "A little" and "I'm sorry."

Earlier, Park Daesung is suspected of killing an 18-year-old high school student, Ms. A, whom he had no acquaintance with, with a weapon around 0:44 a.m. on the 26th of last month on a street in Jorye-dong, Suncheon City. He, who ran a restaurant, was drinking alone at his own establishment, took the weapon, went outside, and chased Ms. A, who happened to be passing by, for about 800 meters before killing her from behind. His smiling face after the crime was captured on CCTV, causing shock.
Additionally, he wandered the streets armed with the weapon, got into disputes with passersby, and visited bars and karaoke rooms to drink. About 2 hours and 20 minutes after the incident, around 3 a.m., the police responded to a report and arrested Park Daesung.
The victim, Ms. A, was understood to have been attacked while going out to buy medicine for her disabled father. In a prior police investigation, Park Daesung stated, "At the time of the crime, I had broken up with my girlfriend and business was bad, so I drank four bottles of soju," and "I do not remember the details of the crime."

Some are calling for the harshest punishment for Park Daesung's heinous crime. On the 2nd, Lee Eonju, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, wrote on her Facebook, "The cruelty of the incident is beyond words," and argued, "The perpetrator's antisocial nature is severe, showing no possibility of rehabilitation, and given the nature of the case and the clear evidence leaving no room for misjudgment, it is necessary for a peaceful society that the death penalty be exceptionally sentenced and carried out."
Professor Lee Sujeong of the Department of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyunjung's News Show' on the same day and analyzed, "(Park Daesung) is likely to have been a violent character before."
Regarding the reason Park Daesung smiled after the crime, Professor Lee speculated, "Recently, posts predicting murders have been appearing online in competition, and if he had been exposed to such information for a long time and thought, 'I will definitely commit a record-breaking act to show others,' the meaning of his smile could be interpreted in that context."
