[This Week's Books] 'Knife' and More

Knife

This is the first book Salman Rushdie published after being attacked by a Muslim extremist youth in 2022, an incident that nearly cost him his life. Since the publication of his 1988 novel "The Satanic Verses," Rushdie has been constantly threatened with death. At that time, Iranian leader Khomeini issued a religious decree (fatwa) calling for Rushdie's execution, claiming that "The Satanic Verses" contained content insulting to Islam. Although Rushdie still suffers from trauma, he has vowed to continue his literary path, responding to violence with art. (Written by Salman Rushdie / Translated by Kang Dong-hyuk / Munhakdongne)

In particular, it dedicates a significant portion to pointing out the unethical policies and safety issues of major AI companies, as well as the lack of transparency in the AI development process.
